Are you still deciding what to do this summer? Want to take a big step in your journalism or public relations career? There are numerous quality internships still available. It’s not too late to spend 8 weeks in Washington, DC completing an internship, earning credit, and expanding your professional network.

As the new administration works to get their team in place and implement their agenda headline breaking news is happening around the clock!


We have been running academic internship programs for almost 50 years and through our comprehensive institutes all participants will be placed in an internship within one of the following types of organizations:

  • Print or broadcast media outlet
  • News service
  • Internet publication
  • Public relations firm
  • Capitol Hill press office
  • Advocacy organization

Live in the heart of Washington, DC on George Washington University’s campus, just steps from the Lincoln Memorial and Department of State. Roommate matching with other program participants is included. Click here to learn more about housing accommodations and the neighborhood.


Maximize your summer by also taking courses between 3 and 9 credits from George Mason University. Take courses designed for journalism and communication majors and choose from a variety of engaging electives. Learn from Professor Richard Benedetto, founding White House and Campaign Reporter for USA TODAY. His internship seminar will give you an insider’s view of political reporting. You’ll also hear from Pulitzer Prize winning guest speakers. Click here to read more about the courses.


Over 70% of our students receive scholarship awards based on financial need and merit and funding is still available. Awards typically range from $1,000 -$4,500.


Students are encouraged to visit for more information and to begin an online application. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through the April 5 extended deadline.
