Meet the Speaker: Crisis Communication Workshop

Meet Jared Meade, the host of our crisis communication workshop! The workshop will be held Tuesday, Sept. 29 in SC 304, and will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This is a great chance to learn more about crisis communication from a public relations professional and to test your own crisis communication skills!

Jared Meade has been working in the field of public relations for the past twelve years with a focus on the healthcare and education sector. He is currently the manager of public and media relations for Owens Community College in Perrysburg, Ohio. Owens is an accredited two-year, state-assisted institution of higher education serving the diverse academic needs of credit and non-credit students on the Toledo-area and Findlay-area campuses, as well as at the Owens Community College Learning Center Maumee and the Owens Community College Learning Center Downtown Toledo.

Prior to Owens he served as media/communication specialist for ProMedica Health System an 11-hospital health system serving 27 counties in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan located in Toledo, Ohio. At ProMedica he was responsible for media relations at three of the hospitals within the system, Bay Park Community Hospital, Flower Hospital, and Toledo Children’s Hospital and include all internal communications for Toledo Children’s Hospital, the second largest hospital within ProMedica.

He currently sits on the Eastern Michigan University Public Relations Advisory Board.

He is the founding member and former president of the public relations alumni chapter at Eastern Michigan University and was named the chapter’s Alumnus of the Year in 2009.

Meade earned a Bachelor of Science in public relations from Eastern Michigan University and a Masters in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management.
