Michelle Rogers launched a fantastic community media lab in early 2012 and has not looked back. Rogers spoke in-depth about the lab at the Jan. 21 EMU PRSSA meeting.
Rogers heads the Southeast Michigan Media Lab located in downtown Ypsilanti, Mich. to train journalists and community members in how to use a variety of methods to engage online and increase impressions on their content.
This Community Media Lab has many free workshops ranging from social media and marketing to publishing books and mastering AP Style. She also trains journalists to use not-so-well-known social media platforms like InfoGram and Tout. Each of these platforms have their own specialties and benefits.
Many local residents have been trained by Rogers and the Community Media Lab.
In addition to work, Rogers has involved herself with students in Ypsilanti and is a graduate of 1991 graduate of EMU. She often reaches out to community members and students and seeks community contributors and receives community contributions on various blogging topics as well as radio host teams, videographer teams and social media teams.
She offers training by appointment and can be reached via Twitter!
