EMU PRSSA teams up with Franco Public Relations Group for the Salvation Army’s Online Red Kettle Campaign

Eastern Michigan University students from The Eleanor Wright Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) are partnering with Franco Public Relations Group in Detroit to raise funds and awareness for The Salvation Army’s Online Red Kettle Campaign.

The online fundraiser is part of the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign, the nonprofit’s largest national fundraiser. The EMU community is competing against other state colleges and universities to raise funds through an online donation site or through a text-to-donate component.

“The goal is to raise more funds than the other participating schools,” said Emily Vontom, president of EMU PRSSA. “More importantly, we’re raising money to help those in need this holiday season and beyond.”

All donations made to the EMU PRSSA online Red Kettle will support those in need within the community and count towards EMU’s goal of $3,500.

Donations can be made to the EMU PRSSA Red Kettle or by texting “EMUgives” to 71777 now through Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.

Last year’s Kettle drive helped The Salvation Army provide more than 23,500 meals and more than 12,000 nights of shelter to those in need in Washtenaw County alone.

All donations are welcome. Consider what your gift can provide:

  • $10 helps to feed one person for one month
  • $25 helps to provide one coat to keep a child warm
  • $50 assists with services such as meals, lodging, transportation and clothing for a family victimized by fire
  • $120 feeds one person for a year
  • $1000 provides one month of shelter, counseling and meals for a homeless family
