EMU PRSSA will be hosting an Ethics Summit on Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The seminar will take place in the EMU Student Center in room 304.
Jim Burke, director of global communications for Federal-Mogul Corporation and PRSA-Detroit ethics chairman, will speak.
Mr. Burke will share information about ethics resources available through PRSA National and the Detroit Chapter, including guidelines for assessing and addressing ethical issues. Attendees will also discuss some recent instances where companies may have crossed the ethics line.

Jim Burke is director, global communications for Federal-Mogul Corporation. In this role, he has primary responsibility for internal communications and media relations for the company and provides direct communications support for the CEO of one of the company’s two operating segments.
Prior to joining Federal-Mogul in 2010, Burke was employed with General Motors Corporation for more than 20 years in various areas of communications and human resources, most recently leading global product communications for the company. In this role, Burke led a team that created and executed new product launch communications strategies. Previously, Burke was communications director for GM’s worldwide facilities, economic development and enterprise services, a position which included internal and external communications responsibility for GM’s real estate, global security and worldwide travel organizations.
From 1999 to 2003, Burke was director, internal communications for GM North America. In this assignment, he led internal communications planning for several officers of the company and drove a multi-award-winning internal communications improvement strategy across several divisions and dozens of sites throughout North America.
His early career included several positions of increasing responsibility in human resources and labor relations, which included assignments at GM’s Technical Center in Warren, Mich., and at GM manufacturing facilities in Baltimore and in Syracuse, N.Y.
Burke holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in business administration from Case Western Reserve University. He is a member of PRSA Detroit Chapter and currently serves as Ethics Chair for the Chapter.
